Post by: Somersetboy on 04 September 2010, 15:36:06
Hi to all Omega owners can anyone help with the following,
I have 2.2CD Auto reg 2002 63,000 miles from new and tow a caravan service book suggests that gear box oil be changed at 60,000 if towing caravan do you agree? do not have problem in this dept but want to keep my faithful girl in working order, also does this model have an oil cooler fitted as standard or would it be better to fit one, any practical comments would be welcome,
Cheers for now

Sounds like sound advice to me.General consensus seems to be that the Transmission fluid and filter should be changed at around 70,000.Its a messy but not technically difficult job.
If you do a lot of towing it might be a good idea to do it a bit earlier.
Transmission oil cooler is built into the side of the water radiator and Im pretty sure its sufficient, shouldnt need any additional cooling.
Hope that helps. :y

Hi

Welcome to the forum. I would second that. There is a guide in the maintenance guide on checking the fluid level

I am pretty sure there is one on changing the fluid. I use a "Robinsons" potting up tray to catch the oil etc. There is an offer on gaskets, filter and oil as a sticky on one part of the forum.

Preventative maintenance is better than cure!
