Title: Engine temp on a 2.2
Post by: Vamps on 05 September 2010, 21:38:22
What should this be running at,? gauge reads only a little above 80 on a run, rising a little in town. Outside air temp was 20
I looked in the FAQ and for a V6 this seems to be about right, is this the same for a 2.2?
Water is red, and looks clear and is at the correct level.. :)
Can you tell I nave started using the new Omega now, fresh out the bodyshop... :y :y

Vamps,i dont know if the V6's are the same but dont be too alarmed if the gauge suddenly goes to Red and the light comes on... pull in switch car off... restart... it will return to normal

Mine does this now and then, seems to be a thing on them, just the sensor i believe

Just thought i'd say it case it happens and it panics ya :)

The 1st time mine did it i stood on the brakes and turned the key as soon as it got below 10mph! ;D
Lifted the bonnet and all was NOT overheating, switched it on again and all was back to normal  :-?

I swear i could almost hear the car sniggering!!

Actually guys this doesn't sound normal.
On open road it can sit around 85 if you drive easily
But no way it will stay in town traffic.
Sounds like the thermostat is stuck open all the time

Thermostat cant be jammed open if the gauge is going up and down
