Has anyone had the TD manifolds polished? Or swapped them for BMW bits? It is a bit agricultural in there, reminds me of Pratt & Witney engines. :-/
-
Nope, mine are not polished but I have been wondering what would do the job of making them sparkle a bit.
Never thought about BMW bits.

I'm always jealous of the nice looking plenum covers on the ones that burn lighter fuel - although I'm glad not to have their problems. 8-)

I know exactly what you mean. ;D ;D
So who can advise Shackeng and myself what to use to get our top bits shiny ?

I was thinking the same, I have had the wire brush in my angle grinder, and it does have a cleaner look. I suppose the next phase is Emery, then I will have to think about stopping it oxidising.
Here is a pic but it's difficult to see, some of the Ali pipework has been Brasso'd too.

That looks very nice indeed, :y I can see a lot of work has gone into it. Apart from the brasso on the pipes did you use any cleaning agent on the manifold and camcover or is that the result of the wire brushing.

Thanks. That was just a Brass wire brush, more of a test really. It seemed to get rid of a lot of built up deposits. The picture doesn't do it justice, it shines more than you would think.
