Hi. Switched on the heated rear window in my Omega Elite 3.2 for the first time since last winter and it virtually knocked out the FM station I was listening to - i.e. volume decreases and a lot of noise is introduced. If I change station with the HRW still on, I get no reception at all. If I then turn off the HRW, the reception returns to normal immediately. Effects on AM (MW or LW) stations are much less, but the HRW does appear to introduce a background "whine" on AM stations. If anyone has any idea what may be causing this I'd be grateful to hear from you. Many thanks. Ross.

yeh but no.
asked the same question a while back. there is an earth point (in the boot?) to check, then its check the rear window continuity by heavy breathing /activity in the car to steam the car out to find the electrical gaps...

Your radio aerial is via the heated rear screen. The amplifier connections to the screen can become iffy so causing the problems you have. The amp lives in the gap between the rear parcel shelf and the steel shelf it's sat on ... apparently.
I've never seen my amp ;) :y

I stumbled upon a box in that area, it supplies the heated rear screen with power and has small aerial type connectors going to it, I assumed it was for a factory fit phone? What does the aerial on the roof do? Is it wired to the amp as well?

THe aerial on the roof is for satnav/telephone and goes straight to the radio or at least the satnav part does :y :y :y Unless an estate model that gets it radio signal from the roof mounted aerial :y
