Title: HT Leads
Post by: Broomies Mate on 20 September 2010, 21:42:14
Is there a sure-fire way of checking HT leads for faults before spending a small fortune on replacing them?

I have a Misfire, quite bad, but only when applying a heavy right foot, unusually there is a tiny misfire at idle.  No Misfire when under light acceleration or cruising.

Brand new Bosch DISPack and NGK Plugs, fitted by me a fortnight ago.

Misfire has only just developed today.

Thoughts please?

Also, if you were buying HT Leads, which would you go for?  Are Magnecor still selling quality leads, or is there another brand which offers better quality for money?  :y

EDIT TO ADD:  No EML or fault codes.  :)

To test them put a multi-meter across them on the ohms setting, a failing or failed lead with show a significant difference in resistance.

Tested the leads with a multimetre.  None of which gave a significantly less/more continuity reading than another.

I have replaced the leads with a new set (admittedly from Euro Car Parts at £23 a set) and still have the misfire.

All plugs came out when replacing the leads and all (new) plugs looked fine.  No oil or water in plug wells.

I'm confused.  Can anyone suggest why I have this misfire?

New DISPack, New Plugs, New Leads.  No EML, No Codes.  :'(

Surely, someone must have experienced this issue in the past?  :-/
