Title: Sticking Td starter
Post by: osealy on 22 September 2010, 11:15:41
Sometimes takes up to 10 clicks from solenoid before motor turns, Anyone got a good one 2.5td?
I'm reluctant to take off the manifold & then find I can't fix the problem as I need the car daily.

Easier from underneath with the undertray off :y

Even easier then! Take the top bolt out first as it's more awkward than the bottom, let the bottom bolt support the weight :y

There was one on ebay for a Tenner last week, it ended with no bids, so they can't be in demand.

Don't think so J; it's now here in the Valleys mate!
I'll check later to see if I've still got the spare one off Markseths.

sounds like solenoid prob to me?? cleaning the connections through the entire (electric connections)starter system would be a good bet before removing the starter itself? wouldnt take to long and wil let you know if its the starter itself sticking or not
