hi all , as most of us probably did i am starting myhello's with a 'can you help ? ' lol , i have an 1998 omega elite auto and as i approached a set of lights it decided to stall on me whilst in gear , when i put it into park and threw the key it started but wouldn't idle and immediately cut out , i managed to limp round the cornere and went under the bonnet , i had a play with the throttle wire and linkage (the wire seemed very slack) and when i threw the key it idled perfectly , does anyone have any experience of this or is it time to get stung by the man with the fancy reader ???? any help would be greatly appreciated before i have to open my wallet lol , thanks guys .

Hi
Paper clip it for fault codes, probably find a 19 which is crank sensor. Check under "Maintenance Guides" for how to do the paper clip test.

hi brickhead , nope no lights nothin at all to suggest there is a problem , it has done it once or twice before , if i think about it it could be allsorts of stuff , i had just give it some welly in sports and ive been runnin the tank quite low lately so it could be s@!t thats been sucked through causing blockage , when i started it after pulling over it didnt really want to rev below 1500rpm for a few secs then it seemed to clear , thirty seconds later i was back driving down the road no problem , still going to stick it on the code reader though as i have only had her about two months so i should get her serviced etc so i know where i'm upto :-?

Remove and clean ICV well with carb cleaner. You may have to do this a couple of times.

was wondering as im off up blackpool next weekend.
i had the same sort of prob with a 3.0l elite, it wouldnt idle/run below about 2500rpm but would rev above that fine. blanked off the egr valve to cure.
just a thought.
