i have a glow plug failure on my 2003 elite 2.2 dti and want to know if the job of replacing them can me done by myself or is it a garage job , if i can do do it myself how big a job is it and what do i need to do . regards mike

Really easy to do and easy to get at

Straightforward job to do. You will need a 10mm deep socket, ratchet etc to remove them. You can test them in situ just by pulling off the caps and measuring between the connector and earth with a multimeter.New ones measure about 1 Ohm IIRC. When they are shot they tend to measure in hundreds of Ohms.
The main problem I encountered the first time I did this job was actually getting the caps off. (They do just pull off) I found it necessary to employ a pair of pliers to seperate them. Since this initial problem they have been much easier to seperate.

cheers , thanks for the help , i called in at vauxhall and bought 4 new glow plugs on trade club , fitted them in 10 minutes and everything now ok , cheers :) :)

I was going to say be careful as i've heard horror stories of the snapping in the head but you're obviously ok :y
