H ithere guys. I just bought an ecu and key chip, but when i try to start i just get the eml flashing. I take it this is the immobiliser. Do i also need the transponder? if so where can i find it? I need to know fairly quick so that i can get it off the car before the guy scraps it.
I can't use my original ecu anymore as the chip broke when it got taken out the key, don't even know if the ecu was at fault but it was pretty much the last thing to replace to try and fix the car's running problems.
cheers gill

The engine ECU, Immobiliser ECU (clips onto the lock barrel on the steering column) and the immobiliser transponder chip from the key all need to be paired for the engine to start.
The transponder chip is clipped into the plastic part of the key that is moulded onto the blade.

excellent, cheers. Myself and the guy I bought them from both thought that it was just the chip and ecu i needed and that the bit on the lock barrel was generic and just relayed the signal.
To say the air was blue when i found it didn't work and i'd broken the original chip would be an understatement.
I'll get in touch with him and let him know where to look (if he doesn't already)
cheers again, Gill
