Title: Anybody got a spare 2.6 oil filter housing?
Post by: VR4Dave on 01 October 2010, 14:54:18
Hi, has anyone got a spare one of these knocking about? I need the body and cap, as I destroyed mine yesterday.
Or does anyone know of other vauxhalls that share the same part?

Cheers
Dave.

That's why this site is sooooo good! thanks mate i didn't like the cartridge type anyway. Shame I didn't know about it before I spent a couple of hours trying to get the thing off unharmed!

Cheers Dave.

I honestly think Dave this was a poor idea of Vauxhall's to go away from the Canister filter... alot of people over tighten the Paper Filter type >:(
So I think your doing the right thing mate :y

Got to do my first facelift filter change as soon as the driveway is dry. A bit nervous about it being tight and causing problems.
Previous owner an OOFer so hopefully wont have a problem. Thought about doing the conversion, but seem to remember Mr DTM saying that the later type are a better filter ? :-/

Hello Dave converted mine on Wed,worst part for me was removeing oil residue from threads in block, managed it by nicking some of swmbo's cotton buds dipped in thinners, and steering on full r/hand down lock to help access. You should be ok, bet you don't have arthur twisting at your finger joints!!The other hard bit was sourceing permanent thread locker TL70 in a small quantity the large bottle 40ml was £40 I managed to get a 10ml for £10 if you have the same problem PM me and I'll get the contact phone No for you to have it posted to you
