Has the headlight ever been apart? If it has it could be that the sealant hasn't properly resealed and allowed water in. Check the rubber bungs on the rear of the headlight as well :y

Not been apart to my knowledge
Will check bung mate thanks

They only ever mist up when water gets in. The headlight heats said water so it evaporates and settles on the fastest cooling part (the lens) as condensation. Simples really ;)
-
Lee, whats the best way of getting rid of it mate?
Cheers

Get it completely dry inside. A couple of hours in a hot airing cupboard with the bungs off should do it :y

Pull off both rubber bungs then put a hirdryer into one of the holes for a while. You need to re-seal it though, the condensation leads to mould or algae on the inside of the lens which can be an MoT fail if it gets bad.

That was going to be suggestion #2 ;)

By "resealing" it do we just mean refitting the bungs or do i need a sealant in there?
Thanks

Depends.... If a bung is missing or split then that's how the water got it. If the bungs are all fine then the headlight needs to come out and a new bead of sealant put all the way round the joint where the black and clear parts meet.

This doesnt mean that you seperate them and then put the sealant around does it...... as Im reading it its just put a decant bead of sealant around the outside of the light itself makeing sure you cover the joints :-/

The test that the Vauxhall recommends is to turn on the lights for 20 minutes. If the misting clears in that time then the headlight is considered OK. If it has still not cleared after that run time the unit is considered defective. TIS points out that the open lamp design will inevitably lead to some moisture ingress which is far more noticeable on Xenons due to the clear lens
The lights on my car do very occasional after very heavy rain or washing the car have some very light misting which seems to clear quite quickly. As this seems to effect many cars I have never troubled myself with it.

I have a new hid light on the pass side, it mists up when I use the auto car wash, so it was replaced, 2nd new one exactly the same. Old one never mists up....? :-/
