Hi all,
Took a look under my car and saw that between the cat and when the exhaust goes up to meet the manifold its starting to rust and a small hole is coming through althought its not blowing.
Is this a expensive replacement being close to the cat and manifold or can you replace just that small section?
Cheers
Dan

That sounds like a cat replacement, they seem to sell for around £50-£70 secondhand.
You could go to an exhaust specialist and get them to cut the section out and weld a new bit in, I had that done on my center box where the it broke at the seam, cost me 50 quid. The only thing i'd check, if it's the downpipe will it be under more stress than a section further back and will the weld hold.
Edit:I got mine welded because the cat to centre box bolts were rusted solid and a repair was cheaper than the estimated cost to retap/bolt it.

The pipes from the manifold including the cats is one piece and as usual the most expensive part. Budget for £300 if buying new (and that is each!), alternatively get a pair off a breaker (like the MV6 I have coming in at the weekend ;) ) :y

No worries ;) I could have a go at plating the hole if you want to try that first?
