Title: Low Idle speed MV6
Post by: terry big timber on 06 October 2010, 10:58:05
Help please. Engine is 'lumpy' at tick over and when I am driving slowly.

My Idle speed is only 500/600rpm.

What does the throttle valve switch on the throttle body do?

I did a pedal trick test but I can't find the list of fault codes. I am sure I have seen it on here somewhere.
Can anyone direct me.

And lastly,  could it be the airflow meter? It seems to be a bit worse in damp conditions.

Too many questions! Sorry boys!

codes can be found in my signature....what did you get?

MAF errors are not uncommon on the 3.2..

from email : My readings on the pedal test were:

10  7  10  4

10  4  3  10

10  6  5  10

10  4  2  10

So..
0704 - Clutch Switch Input Circuit Malfunction - guess this would only affect cruise control, not sure  :-/

0430 - Normal 3.2 pre cat efficency - dont worry (move the lamba sensor as per guide is the fix)

0650 - Malfunction Indicator (MI) Control Circuit  - Assuming your EML works (it must, to have got these codes, then dont worry.)

0420 - Normal 3.2 pre cat efficency - dont worry (move the lamba sensor as per guide is the fix)

hmmmmm

How well serviced is the car?
Newish Air filter?
fuel?  supermarket, or branded?

revs not really an issue, but not running well is, could just want a good service, new filters, plugs, some injector cleaner running through, or a good italian tune up, better petrol.  All possibles....

Sounds like the classic air leak symptoms to me...

Clean breathers/throttle, check for leaks, then see what its like
