stripped the plenum this morning, cleaned everything, egr blanked off with coke can. still no change, decided to take the car to mates to see if he knew why it was running so bad.
started to slip gear and then thump into 2nd gear.by the time i got home it wouldnt even move in gear. jacked up drivers side to check level and i think about 4 litres came out brown and very thin so obviously its had it. cleaned the gear selector which was rotten.
now.. because i couldnt even move in gear will there be something major wrong or does it just need new filter, clean and refill with new fluid. i'm burnt, aching stressed and gonna drown me sorrows in a bottle of JD. ;D ;D

anyone know the name of the place that does the gearbox filter, is it j pat or jp oils ??or similar

http://www.jpat.co.uk/Parts_cat_GM.html is the one you're looking for, I believe.
If oil came out of the level check/fill bung when the car was on level ground then it must have had plenty in .. but thin & brown means burnt, which to me would suggest brake bands and/or low hydraulic pressure.. but I'm definitely no automatic transmission expert!

thats what came out raised up drivers side, it poured out like water, and frigging red hot all over my arm :( ;D ;D

Ahh gotcha, sorry I'll put my glasses on now ;D
In that case it could just be old ropey fluid .. worth doing a drain and refill anyway, what's to lose? :) (Aside from more skin ;D)

Good luck with it, I hope an oil change and new filter sorts it out for you.
How many miles has it done?

102k now. if it doesnt work then the car will be scrapped monday morning, even though ive spent 300 this week

bit extreme isnt it? scrapping a motor for the sake of a slushbox. or am i missing something?

Don't do anything rash. New fluid and filter may be all that it needs.
If your taking the gb sumps off you could check the solenoid. There was a thread quite recently about this.

ive stripped it today again trying to find out why its running so bad, no power at all, loads of codes come up yesterday so fed up. i'm now thinking could it be the fuel filter as it seems starved of petrol trying to accelerate,or too much petrol cause it got through about 7 quid of petrol not going anywhere, thats starting and stopping the engine outside the house, but fuel filter was replaced just a few months ago :-? :-?

Was the engine running when you checked the level. If it wasn't running you will get oil pouring out. Check must be done with the engine running.

This is getting confusing, as you start a new thread re gearbox, then revert back to bad running issues. Had to start hunting to find your old threads.
Are the sensor you are replacing being replaced with new or used parts?
You appear to have created more error codes when you changed the maf. Try disconnecting it completely and see if there's an improvement.
You say the fuel filter was changed. Have you checked the filter on the lift pump in the boot?

Now you got me confused again. The one in the boot is for the Diesel engine.
Try this for the estate but should be similar to yours:
