Just wondering if anybody else is having the same problem as me, i am now on my 3rd sensor in 18 months and they are all genuine vx parts is this normal or am i just unlucky :y
-
it can happen. When mine went it had to be changed twice in 6 months (at the garages cost). been ok for ~40k miles since then.

I think your just unlucky, from memory I'm sure they come with a parts and labour warranty

Mine had swarf on the tip, and I did wonder if this caused the temporary failure to start and the error code.anyway I fitted a new one and taped up the original, and left it on top of the oil filter canister untill I can reinstall it and check it out when my caravan touring season ends. All the info is that mostly it's the cable that fails due to its hazardous route I'll post up the outcome when I reinstall.

Fitted a new crank sensor today to another car. Was expiating to see cable damage, visibly fine, it had done 130 k though. :-/

You did route the cable away from the exhaust didn't you?
Heat is the main cause of failure on the original, from oil pipes. You have to make sure that you route any replacement away from heat sources
