Luckily (?) it's outside the house and I'm not working today so no major panic. Spins quick as you like but no bang.
It did this once before, back in August in Greece of all places, just about to leave for the ferry home. On that occasion, after much Fawltyesque behaviour on my part, it eventually fired up and has since done 2.5k with no sign of a problem. Codes at the time were 13 and 135.
I've been lugging a spare crank sensor around for 18 months so now the kettles boiled I shall be going in to bat. I only came in to check the preferred routing. Let's hope its the right version.

code 31 is no rpm signal, this is normal without engine running. Any other codes?
-
Sorry, meant to clarify 'only' code 31 at the outset.
Just come in for some gas pliers to get a grip on the old sensor. And elevenses naturally.
Just before I came in I reconnected the cable to see if it would start out of pure amusement, bearing in mind the sensor is only held in by its O ring. Fires up straight away - no codes ::)
Question is, having achieved a miracle cure by tugging leads and sensors around do I pop the scuttle back on and get on with my life or do I do the right thing and carry on with the change.
Something to ponder during coffe and Bourbons.

Hi Steve :y Re: the original fault codes you had?
13= Oxygen Sensor - No change in Voltage/Open Circuit
135= Check Engine lamp - Low Voltage
As a start, check all connectors are a tight fit especially at the back of the engine & all visible wiring is sound. Someone with far more knowledge than I will be along soon i'm sure :y

Finish it. You'll only end up taking the skuttle back off next week when it fails again!

OOPs! looks like you've fixed it! ;D ;)

Phil, thanks for the input. 13 was a typo, I meant 31.
Fortified with sugar and caffeine I've decided to do the right thing and change the sensor anyway, trouble is some one has borrowed my gas pliers and i'm not sure I can get my teeth on it without jacking her up and removing the cannister ;D
Time to dig in the big drawer of old tools that might come in handy one day :y
Club hammer and trowel anyone?

All sorted now, including the obligatory test drive :D New sensor fitted and old one dangling in the breeze until next time I lift her so I can see exactly what I'm cutting off.
Only thing that puzzles me is I thought I had read that failure of these things was preceded by a few 'cutting out when hot - restart when cold' cycles, and not just fine yesterday kaput today.
Thanks for all the input.
