okay, so i popped off the self leveling sensor on under neath the rear driver side of the car and moved it manually to imitate weight being in the car and the car didnt rise or fall, i am trying to find out
A.the struts are shot therefore the car wont self level, or
B. mabey the struts are shot but is the rest of the self leveling system working ?
if the self level system works i would put them struts on it, but i dont want to buy expensive shockers pointlessley if rest of system isnt working,
i tried taking the air hose of the shocker but couldnt figure it out, got the retaining clip off and the plastic cover but the hose looks as though it goes into a piece that needs unscrewed ? didnt want to break it.
any one got any suggestions, on how to test the system ,or if the shocks are nackered would this stop the leveling system working, when the rear of the car is bounced up and down, i can hear the shock absorders making a kind of air sqooshing noise.

Did you get the right sensor? If you have HID's then there will be 2 on the rear. You want the sensor closest to the diff.

as you look from the car from behid the self leveling suspension sensor is on the right(drivers side on RHD)

Sensor is pictured in the guide, do you hear the pump run within a minute or so of ignition on? Pump lives in front drivers side wing, and can be heard in the pedal trick video under paper clip test in maintanance guide section.
Raising the sensor arm fully should raise the car fully, if not check fuse 27 and that the pump is plugged in.

I have just tested my airlines to the rear shockers by immersing the unclipped pipe in a jam jar of water and then getting an assistant to start the car up. The pipe should bubble air through into the water for a while as it tries to pump up the shocker. The pipe unclips quite easily. squeeze the metal retaining circlip and then pull the 90 deg bend and pipe off horizontally. You may find you have to unclip the pipe as it goes down and under the wheel arch. That is just a simple metal clip.
Probably best not to do it for too long once you see bubbles. And make sure pipe is dry before reconnecting.

Its simpler to just chuck a few bags of sand or some paving slabs in the back with the ignition off. Turn on ignition (no need to start engine) wait ~30 seconds and the car shoudl level.
It only does this once each time the ignition is turned on afaik so dont expect to remove the sensor arm and have it immediately react.

mine does, fairly sure, unless i have a "rusty special"......? ;D ;)

Funnily enough that's the procedure listed in the TIS too.. well, it says 'weight', IIRC, not 'a few bags of sand or some paving slabs', but.. ;D
I'll test mine at the weekend when I take the old boiler to the tip - weighs a ton!
