Hi people
My folks hae just phoned me and asked about a random beeping noise from behind the dash on their "S" reg omega 2.0 auto. i heard it on phone and it sounds like the noise from reversing sensors when you are close to something. no warning lights come on either. really strange. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Cheers, Paul

Is it really from behind the dash, or is it from the scuttle area on the drivers side?
If the latter, the batteries in the power sounder are failing and soon it'll be dead and/or on fire.

Does it have lpg? or as said, failing power sounder, which will be louder from outside the car. Remove / replace as they are not unknown to catch fire. Rare though.
-
does it happen just after you lock the car? if its 3 beeps it will be the power sounders battery about to die...

hi. it is when they are driving along. roughly where is the power sounder batteries located as i never heard of them? cheers for replies

If it is the power sounder, you can disconnect it until you can replace the batteries.

Under the plastic scuttle close to the driver's side wiper spindle, see second last photo from the right here:

Sorry - poor taste but the link from another thread seemed horribly relevant. I *sincerely* hope it doesn't come to that for your folks. If it is the power sounder, of course.
