Title: Rear brakes.
Post by: S T U on 16 October 2010, 17:22:33
Well folks after much browsing the forum, it's time to ask some questions.

I'm upgrading the brakes on my vectra in preparation for future plans.  I have a set of AP Racing 4 pots for the front for 308mm discs which will be drilled and grooved and clamped with redstuff pads.

Now, it's the rears I'm struggling to find info on. I've heard that the Omega uses the same inboard drums as the Vec but are available with 20mm thick vented  discs rather than the 12mm solid ones.  What I'd like to know is, which models are fitted with these parts so that I can source calipers discs and pads.

That should translate to 2.6 and 3.2 engines.  To be on the safe side, say 2003

Are they all one piece or do they have separate carriers?

What about the caliper are they 2 piece as in caliper and carrier or one piece that just bolt on. The single piston Vectra ones are two piece with caliper and carrier.

It's a double piston caliper so not floating on pins.

It's actually two halves bolted together and the variant for vented disks appears just to have a spacer between the two halves.

Ok that's as I thought, when you buy a caliper you normally only get the portion with the piston without the carrier, I just wanted to check that this wasn't the case here.

the calipers for the vented discs are 42mm pistons.

the non-vented variant is 40mm
