Title: Problem with remote locking
Post by: John H on 19 October 2010, 11:01:17
Just got a problem with the remote unlocking, it will not work. The warning light on the fob flashes as the button is pressed, but does not open the doors or de-activate the alarm. Is it the fob or to do with the reciever. Any help most welcome.[timestamp=1287482265]/JohnH

Sounds like the fob has lost its code through possibly the key battery being dead at some point?

Initially, assuming you have a good battery.
Sit in the car with the ignition on only.

Hold BOTH buttons on the remote at the same time.

Chances are, after a few seconds the doors will self lock then unlock. Hopefully it will be sorted.

Let us know how you get on.

I have a similar problem with mine although it does unlock / lock the doors you have to be at the most six inches from either door to get it to work, by the tailgate you have no chance. I have new batteries in the key fob so do i have a faulty key or is the receiver fubarred? :-/

Sounds like you have the old type with the separate fob. That's about the range of it.

Thanks everyone, I had a new battery fitted to the remote (which is all part of the key) by local dealer who also put a small rubber washer behind the battery to ensure a good contact. Then opened doors with key (power sounder came on) put key in ignition, turned till dash lights came on (sounder stopped) then pressed open and closed buttons in turn, door locks worked, so removed key closed door, checked remote locking operation and found all OK.
