Title: omega 2.0 16v running problems
Post by: omegaman74 on 21 October 2010, 18:06:04
i have a 1994 omega 2 litre 16v estate,my problem is that when i pull up at traffic lights etc the car revs at about 2000rpm then after about 3-4 seconds the revs drop and ticks over at about 900rpm and the engiine light comes on and ticks over roughly but when i pull off again the car seems to run ok and the light goes out.i have had it on the car diagnostics and it comes up with the mass airflow sensor,i have changed this with a brand new gm part but it still does the same thing,so a friend suggested changing the idle air control valve, but still the same, even when car is idling i disconnected the idle valve connector but still the same, anyone got any ideas as i love this car been with me for 7 years now and dont want to get rid of her.PLEASE HELP.

Give the throttle body and breathers a good clean out.

There's 'How to' in the Maintenance Guides.

Paperclip (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1189022687) it (again) to see if you still have any fault codes.

Agree with auto addict. Im having similar problems and cleaning the IACV and throttle housing is the best place to start.
