Title: Urgent... I need help to source a part in the UK
Post by: DK MV6 on 26 October 2010, 00:20:13
Hello.

Im in the need of some help from you guys. My Omega MV6 has developed a loud "CLUNK" noise from the steering . I located the fault to be a bushing completely worn out.
Its the bushing in the steering arm opposite to the steering input arm. Reason i say it like that is that my car is LHD as im in Denmark. But the bushing should be the same no matter if it sits in the steering arm in the L/H side or the R/H side.
So i need help to find either a part number or a link to a place were i can buy such a bushing please.

and to try to be as clear as possible. if it was a UK car it would be the bushing in the passenger side steering arm underneath the car. The one the both the tie rod and steering helper arm is connected to.
If its very difficult to understand what part i talk about i will make sure to provide a couple of pictures.

Best regards
Jacob Hansen

its is not a wishbone bushing.
I think the correct term would be steering idler. The arm opposite of the steering box. There seems to be an arm on the steering box where the R/H tie rod is connected to. then there is a large arm reaching across underneath the car and attaches to the L/H arm ( steering idler.)  Is the L/H tie rod connected to the steering idler. ? If so its the same part we are talking about.

It seems like its this part im looking for. But the arm in the link only seem to have one hole in the end. the one im looking for has the tie rod connected to AND the steering helper arm that reaches from left side to right side under the car. ( does this make sense? )

RobG. : But that arm you just link to just have one mounting eye.. i would need one with both mounting for the steering centering arm and the tie rod.

I will try to get a picture in the morning, a simple mobile picture should clear things up  :)

found the link myself in the "how to " section.. Seems like that extra mounting hole im talking about is another small link connecting the steering idler to the tie rod mounting.. :)
Cheers for helping guys.. i can reveal that just the Bushing in that steering idler here i Denmark costīs 160Ģ incl. VAT at a Vauxhall dealership.

The steering idler in the link IS provided with the bushing as pictured in the link right? :-/
