Title: Oil Pressure Warning Lamp ???
Post by: 24_Valve on 25 October 2010, 01:38:42
Glitch or problem...?

Whenever I start the engine, all the warning lamps (eml, battery voltage & oil pressure) extinguish simultaneousy. The ABS, TC & something else (can't remember) extinguish with ignition switched on.

Since disconnecting & reconnecting battery a few days ago, my oil pressure lamp remains lit for about 1-2 seconds after starting engine? eml & battery lamps extinguish simultaneously then brief pause before oil pressure lamp goes out  :-/

It never comes on when driving but has never behaved like this before? Don't know if it's a symptom of a problem or just a glitch? Does this on cold start or hot start. Engine oil level is fine (max line on dip stick)...

any ideas welcome  :y

I think this is completely normal.  Actually this should be more correct than when it extinguishes immediately.

That sounds a bit excessive, assuming you haven't just changed the oil filter etc.

What condition is oil in? Might be worth checking oil strainer...

on the end of the oil pick up inside your lower sump pan. Just a load of M6 bolts & grey sealant/glue holding it in place.

Thanks Andy, will have to run it to the garage tomorrow & put it up on a ramp... does this mean draining off my new oil before removing?  :-/

Just a question... if any crap has got into breather system  or crankcase itself (following work on plenum), would this cause any oil pressure problems?
