Just found out that the tailgate isn't locking with the remote. All the doors are locking / unlocking okay, and the dashboard button isn't showing any signs of a fault. I have already reset the remote, with no joy. I would have thought the button would indicate any fault with the system, so guess it must be something else. There is little movement with the key in the tailgate lock (as it is never used) so will keep using the old WD40 to try and loosen it up a bit, as I would need to ba able to lock it. Any thoughts in the meantime?
Thanks

What button is that? :-? The solenoid/motor is goosed or a linkage has come adrift. :-? :y

I mean the button on the dash which indicates when the alarm is set, etc. I think it should flash when set if there is a problem, but maybe I got that wrong? I thought I checked the boot earlier when leaving the car just to check it was locked, and I think it was. Later though when I checked again, it wasn't. I'll have a look in daylight to see if anything is amiss, though I guess you're probably right :(

Saloon or estate? Pre/mini-facelift or facelift?

At least I think it's mini f/l!

OK, unlock the car. Lock the boot with the key and check it's locked. This eliminates the mechanism. Unlock the boot with the key then return the key to the central position. Lock the car with the remote and re-check to see if the boot has locked.

The button will switch off the interior ultra sonics for the alarm should you wish to leave animals in the car while it's alarmed. It does flash to indicate a fault though. :y

Cheers pal. I can't turn the key in the lock at all at the minute, but I'll keep working on it!

If you've never been able to use the key it's most likely the boot solonoid. There isn't a HowTo for the boot (or the fuel cap for that matter) but I'm breaking a car this weekend if you want a solonoid? And I'll do a HowTo as I take it off (might as well do the fuel cap at the same time) :y
[edit]to add - if you want a set of locks with a matching key (ignition, door, glovebox and boot) then I can sort those too ;)[/edit]
