Anyone know where i can get a key repaired. its the single button type and the button has had it. it failed on me tonight but i managed to split the key and make it work to get me home .the key stem/ immobiliser works ok just the button part. Can i get new and if so, how easy is it to programme up. thanks :)

One button? I take it your car is very early in the production run then? Try asking Martin Imber, he is a member here and repairs the 2 and 3 button fobs for a very reasonable rate and it is an absolute top notch service :y

1994 m reg...i suppose that counts as early. could i upgrade to a two button type key?
-
upgrade to 2 button isnt possible as your car has the infrared remote setup, the loom for the central locking is completely different.
The best option is to get a working second hand central locking unit with matching fobs (2x fobs is best) keeping your own key section with the chips aswell.
IR cars are getting rare now due to age tho.

probably be easier to fit an alarm with central locking control and take the immobiliser out of the existing circuit if thats possible. :question

the immobiliser and the central locking are 2 seperate components. removing the immobiliser wont get your remote locking working again.
its easy to change the c/l unit, just look on egay and see if someone will sell you the unit and 2 matching fobs, making sure its the same type.
