I just replaced the rocker cover gasket on my 2.0 Omega and now she's banging like a diesel and the oil light is on. (no oil lack warning on MFD) Oil is good (no leaks). I'm going to replace oil and filter and take down the sump and make sure the gauze aint blocked to see if it cures it but if it doesn't, where do i go next??? my mech told me the rocker cover seemed to be warped, would that have this effect on the car? Do oil pumps give bother in the X20XEV, I've never come across it before but i didn't work in Opel for too long so experience is lacking! any help you guys can give is really appreciated.

If you've replaced the camcover gasket did you tighten the bolts to the correct torque value? tightening them too much causes distortion of the cover. If it is warped then your new gasket will probably allow oil to leak. I don't think I would be even starting the car until the sump had been dropped & the oil pickup strainer had been checked & the oilpump inspected. It might also be well worthwhile removing the cambelt cover & checking the belt & tensioners, and timing is all ok? I hope it is just something fairly straightforward & will keep my fingers crossed for you. :-/

I didn't do the gasket myself, i had my mech do that to be honest, oil was gettin in at the plugs so got him to clean it too. he said the cover looked warped, i didn't see it. i only got the car back yesterday and everything seemed to be fine until today when the light came on, i only turned it over for a few minutes aftewards to see if was intermittent but no, its not, so i went and bought filter and oil for the change tomorrow....in the rain...lovely!!! >:(
