Post by: skinwiz on 05 November 2010, 16:52:01
hi all , just a quick one really , ive been looking for the guide on how to remove the alternator on a v6 elite 3.0 but cant find it , is it a simple job hence no guide ??? been getting a faint glow from the battery light and it gets brighter the more stuff you switch on so i'm working on the basis its the alternator , especially as the car was dead this mornin after bein stuck in traffic for ages with all the bells and whistles goin big time .  8-)

Sounds like the regulator, easy enough to replace.
Multiram setup out.

Aux belt off.

Disconnect battery

Remove the two securing bolts (one end is torx, the other end hex)

swing the alternator out and disconnect the two rear electrical connections.

nice one , i'll get back to you once i've skinned my knuckles in the freezin cold rain tommorrow  :-/ although i'll probably need half an engine by the time i've finished lol i have a habit of breaking things whilst attempting to fix other things , tried changing a water pump on a rover coupe turbo once , spent a good fifty quid on tools and another 70 on parts , the guy who has the car now has had 3 new heads and it STILL leaks that badly after my repair , i didn't stitch him by the way he bit my arm off even after i told him it was a complete lemon .
