Title: BRAKES confirm whats right/wrong Help please boys!
Post by: Diamond Black Geezer on 05 November 2010, 21:44:33
In continuation of the ABS ECU saga in the parts for sale/wanted section...

Having already being told my kind oofers that an ABS ECU with same part number can be exchanged, provided its from model with same 'spec' ie Engine, Gearbox, etc I wanted to check that an ABS ECU from a 1995 2.5TD Auto will NOT fit an Omega Elite 1998 2.5TD Auto.

I have a feeling it's a different generation of ABS (5.3, yes?) on a '98 car, to a '95 car; and therefore won't work.

Thanks in advance  :) :)

I think the pre-facelift have a '3 channel' ABS and the facelift have a '4 channel' ABS

ie 3 channel = 2 front wheels + 1 back axle

4 channel = 2 front wheels + 2 back wheels

So no chance of swapping pre & post facelift.

I think 6 cylinder cars have traction control & 4 cylinder don't but I don't know whether that can be programmed  :-/

The Boy is the person who will know the answer  :y (and who you will need to go to get the programming done)

So 98 is probably mini-facelift and incompatible with 1995 pre-facelift  :(

Just what I suspected. Cant think where I read it, but thought 4 channel was one of the little improvements on mini-fl. Bugger!!

SOMEONE out there has an old ABS ECU just sat on a shelf, and I want it!! They're a tricky little swine to find, they are.  >:(

Just in case anyone happens to have one, the part number is 0 273 004 205.

Many thanks there 2woody, but the issue is that it has to be from a 98/99 car, '97 at a push(crossover year), as the ABS on a 95 model is a different generation/version. Using yours or any other 'wrong one' would incur a tech2, which the budget just cant run to.

But I really appreciate the offer.  :y

Still looking,.......pretty please?  ;)

I now have an ABS ECU, will soon know if its the right one (we still have to get the car trailered to my mates place) But thanks for all the help that you've all given!

Once again, the free exchange of information has saved much pounds!! Thanks :) :)
