Title: codes 0335 and 0340
Post by: dawchiks on 08 November 2010, 18:53:27
hello, i have a x20xev, year 2000. The check engine light has been on my dash for ages, so I did paperclip test and got codes 0335 and 0340. As I understand it's the Cam and Crank sensors. Recently ,the car has started to go over 4.5k rpm, if it's not started when warm (>5 hours to cool off). Only problem there is - the 4.5k rpm limit. I just though it is the Cam sensor, not both of them. :S Could cleaning the Cam sensor and its wiring could help? And I need to know what to change. Diagnostics ( about year ago) said it's the cam sensor only(that's what i was told, I didnt drive the car there), paperclip shows cam and crank.

Cleaning wont do jack.

Replace CAM sensor, then see what comes back after clearing the codes :y

Should add, if both fail completely, you'll be pushing it...

Do I really have to clear the codes? That means I'll have to pay >200$ for the sensor,  changing the sensor and cleaning the codes. I could change it my self, but I cant clean the codes, can I?

Ideally, but if you cannot, just change the sensor, then check again with paperclip after a few days.
