Title: Brake and gearbox fluid. How much do I need?
Post by: V6 CDX-er on 08 November 2010, 11:09:54
Morning fellas. As per the title really.

I'm about to start work on getting the Omega back on the road, (2003 2.6 auto), and will be changing the brake fluid and removing the sump on the auto box.

So, how much brake fluid do I need to buy and how much ATF will I need to do an oil change on the auto box?

Many thanks  :y

You'll need about 6 or 7 litres of ATF. Best to buy 10 to ensure you have enough (you can't predict how much will end up in your hair!).

Brake fluid -  I'd say a litre would do it. Maybe a little more. Best to buy a couple of small bottles and avoid having half-full bottles left over as it doesn't keep well.

Thanks chaps.

I need to replace the rear calipers on my Disco as well, so I can always use any left over to top up the master cylinder on that as well.
