Title: Tyre life
Post by: Big_Roger on 14 November 2010, 16:17:58
Hi,
When I bought my motor (4 yrs ago now) I fitted it out with Michelin Primacy 225/55/R16/W95.

I was a bit dissappointed with the mileage I got. 20000 rear and 28000 front.

I changed to Continental and I am even more dissappointed that I now need new rear tyres at 15000 with estimate maybe 5000 miles left on front.

Should I be dissappointed, or is this about right, your views welcome.

I don't drive it like I stole it, and is mostly urban stuff.

Roger

I tend to get 15-20k out of a set (generally go for a grippier tyre than a durable one).

I did manage only 4k from a set of Avon ZZ3s on my TD  :-[

Had Pilots on a 15" and got about 22000. All depends on type of roads, style of drining and car set up

Do you take your car on a trailer?

20000 to 25000 for normal drivers - I used Michelin Primacy all the time until last year - I am now on Dunlop SP3000 which seem fine but only done about 14000 since they went on in May 2009 but good tread left and were cheaper than the Primacy
