Title: Different multirams
Post by: geoffr70 on 14 November 2010, 20:12:46
Hello, I'm ust wondering about multirams.

When driving the Elite (auto), the multi ram operation is very pronounced, it's fast, but then when it hits 4100 rpm that's it, it's away, especially from 20-40 mph.

I've noticed though when dricing the MV6 (manual), at the same revs when accelerating hard, there doesn't seem to be so much of a difference. Does anyone know if it is meant to be like this due to gearing etc? I know the autos are faster at ceratin speeds in certain gears due to gearing, could this have anything to do with it?

Thanks

If anything the mutirams smooth out the power delivery rather than causing a "surge". Cars that pick up noticeably around the 4K RPM region are often suffering from faulty multirams IME.

The whole engine and ancillaries are the same between auto and manual and MV6 and Elite.

As Kevin Wood says, the multirams are there to smoothen out the torque curve, so guessing its the Elite thats at fault....
