Title: 24v Carlton plug leads fit 2003 V6 Omega?
Post by: V6 CDX-er on 17 November 2010, 10:59:16
Morning chaps.

I'm trying to find a set of plug leads for my 2003 V6 Omega, but drawing a bit of a blank from the likes of ECP & GSF. VX main dealers do them, but at £205 +VAT  :o

A chap called Keith from the ABS forum sells plugs leads, but as far as he is aware, these are only for the 24v Carlton / Senator.

So, two questions really. Do the plugs leads for the 24v Carlton / Senator fit the facelift V6 Omega? And if they don't, where can I get some leads that do fit, and are of OEM quality that aren't going to cost silly money?

Getting kinda desperate now, as was hoping to do cambelt / tensioners and rocker cover gaskets, plugs and leads this weekend.

In advance, cheers  :y

on another note - werent those cars straight 6, not v6, so leads would be different to any omega leads.

just done a quick check of your welcome thread...

Which is........ A 2003 2.6 Omega CDX auto. Bought today for £1200. Two previous owners, 94'000 on the clock, 10 months MOT.

You have 2 coil packs, 1-3-5 and 2-4-6 which sit directly on the plugs, as opposed to the older system of a dispack at the back of the engine, with leads to each plug  :y

so its parts like
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-COIL-PACK-VECTRA-OMEGA-9118114-GENUINE-BOSCH-/180581140028?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a0b79863c

you cant just buy 2 of those, each side is different.

you need, but not sure i'd bother changing if you dont have any issues.

Hi,
Glad to see others have sorted out your "Plug lead problem"

I see you intend doing your cambelt/tensioners and camshaft gaskets etc.

Make sure you use genuine VX gaskets and black sealing cement.

Also, be very sure you get the correct cambelt/ tensioner kit for your model. Many pattern versions are listed as fitting all V6 versions.
There is slight change to the 2.6 and 3.2 versions (The top belt adjuster is in a slightly altered position, and middle one is not adjusable)

I don't know if the 2.6 kit is same as my 3.2, but if it is, make sure you get VX No 93172354

Thanks Rodger.

I got the rocker cover gaskets from my local VX dealer. Same with the cambelt & tensioners. Didn't get any black sealant though.  :-/

actually the leads do fit and work, I've had a 3.0 24v Senator lead quite happily firing a pot on the V6 lump, some of the leads are too short as the dizzy was mounted further forward and was not hidden on a dis pack around the back like on the V's

Technically, it still didn't (properly) fire No 6, but that wasn't the fault of the lead ::)
