Had Roadwars on over the weekend and noticed that they did not always have there seat belts on do they have to :question.
-
Don't know for sure but don't see why they should be exempt, after all the law is the law!
-
Taxi drivers dont, when they have a passenger (iirc), so probably something similar
-
I have asked about this a long time ago - I was fed up of seeing beat cars like this.
They are allowed to for rapid getting out, but are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to wear one.
In other words if they are near where they get out they take them off but while whizzing about they should wear them.
Beat copper was told off!

Correct :y
The reason behind this exemption is in case you have a passenger sitting behind you.......it stops them grabbing your seltbelt and effectively pinning you to your seat.
Tho you have to offset this risk against the risk of being thrown through the windscreen in case of an accident.
You pay ya money and take yer choice ;)

...or strangling you with it, rare but it happens!!
beat cars can be stopped for pretty much the same violations as the public with only a few exemptions

I see the point, but I've never heard of it actually happening. Then again I very rarely see taxi drivers wearing a seatbelt -- even when they're alone in the car. Not sure I'd feel comfortable driving on the motorway without one on, turns what would be a very survivable crash into a likely fatal at those speeds.

Have you ever driven a taxi, or mini cab with with couple of drunken and threatening youths in the back??

I feel For TaxiDrivers A Job I would Never Do, A mate drove a cab for a while until someone put a wire coat hanger over his head and around his neck to rob him for about 50 quid he had.
Its disgusting what people will do to others for money :'(

Most of the Cabs in Chicago have a perspex screen between front & rear!!
-
On a different not but still to do with the Police. I was in my wagon in Lancaster today and whilst walking past a parked Police car I noticed that he didn't have a parking ticket whilst all the other motors did.
The copper came back to the car as I was taking another load of gear into the shop so I commented as he walked past that it must be nice to be above the law when it comes to buying parking tickets. Needles to say I carried on walking and didn't hang round for a reply.
Sharpey ;)

Idone it for twelve years, had a few but sorted them out ;) I found the women more bearable to deal with especially when giving them the usual chat they seemed to calm down. But I know what you mean about some people though they need to be taught a lesson by being arrested and taken to court BUT its a catch 22 situation, 9 time out of ten the police don't want to know.!!!!!!

Similar to the copper I was next to at the lights who was finishing his text. I caught his eye, shook my head and tutted & slapped wrist. The look said up yours! :-?

Marked cop cars are allowed to park pretty much where they want, no need to buy tickets etc. Supposedly only on official duty, but I guess there's not much stopping them doing it when going to the chippy etc ::)
