Hi, does anybody know how much it is to get a car code pass for the radio etc, and how would I go about getting one?

cheers.

from dealers , v5 and proof of ID cost £28.00 in york differing costs from different dealers, just one thing though you will only get original codes, so if radio has been changed then code wont work

Thanks fiend61, the only reason i'm going for the pass is because i cannot get the radio out to retrieve the serial number, thus not being able to go online and get the radio code. God only Know why it wont come out!  :'(

Those double dins are a bitch, esp with the awful quality removal tools.

Carpass varies from £15 to £50, depending on dealer

i got mine out by inserting 4 allen keys into the slots till they clicked then took off the side buttons and prised it out with two screwdrivers making sure there was no pressure on the face plastic as i had heard on here that they come off quite easily but after having everything apart i think if you also took out the ashtray (one screw in the middle at the back) you may have a better grip on it ,take your time and don't force it mine came out with wiggling but yours sounds like it's not original so one of the tabs in the holding cage may be bent and stopping it's removal if that makes any sense.

So, now got the unit out (what a struggle), there is a sticker on the unit saying it has been recoded so any attempt to retrieve the code from the net etc is fruitless I assume.
does this now mean I need to get it recoded again?

Cheers.

(mods please feel free to move this to the right section)  :y

Thanks TB, i'm going to try somewhere local tomorrow first to see if they can do a same day job as i am selling the car this weekend. Failing that i will refer the new keeper to Daves websight. I wouldn't normally bother with the radio but it was working when the sale was agreed and its a mate of mine, typical!
