Title: washer bottle filter
Post by: Andy B on 27 November 2010, 15:25:59
For all those that have problems with getting screen wash to your screen, one of the well documented problems is the filter that the washer pump fits to the bottle via gets blocked. This is the filter (from my Astra - what a PITA to get to!  :-?) If you don't use a quality screen wash you get a build up of bacteria/slime in the bottle which will block the holes in the filter.

Good work AndyB. :y

Also consider the possibility of health issues from water born bacteria flying across your screen. legionnaires disease and pneumonia cases have been found amongst professional drivers, such as lorrie and taxi, due to no screen wash in the system. Nice warm sealed water bottle next to the rad. Mmm nice.

Use correct amount of quality screen wash.  :y

Mmm?  :( I wish it was on an Astra G. It's behind the wheel arch liner on the passenger side. I slackened one side of the front bumper enough to move it slightly over out of the way, pulled the pump out, pulled the grommet/filter out, washed it, put it back & then put the bumper back without testing  :-?  :-?  :-?
So ....... when I then tested it, the pump was running, but no bloody water!!  :o :o. No obvious signs of why, & too cold to piddle about with it, so I fitted the one I took from the scrapped Astra Shed!  :y  :y  :y
