Title: should oil be there?

hi all,ive had an oil/water leak and i pretty sure its the oil cooler sp today set about taking it all apart,have got to oil cooler and have found alot of oil siting in the v,shoul it be there?is it the leak on the cooler?does it mean that the cooler is fubard?just wondering if i have to buy another cooler as im struggling for ££!was wondering if it could be a seal somewhere?thanks guys :y

No there shpuld be no oil there.
More than likely fubard.
Have you checked cam cover gaskets?

cam cover gaskets done 4 month ago,no leals there!

If you have oil as you say in the V.... then either Cam Cover Gaskets but more likely to be the oil cooler pipes O rings.... if the oil cooler plate was leaking then water woulod be in there.

cant see water but they must be starting to mix as breather pipes had mayo in.so is the oil cooler knackard?
one more question,the plate on the top of the oil coler,is it jus a plate and nothing else?not taken it off yet!

Did you clean out the breathers when you did the Cam Covers?

Do you have oil in your water system?

The Oil Cooler Plate stops water from coming out. There are O rings that sit under and ontop of the oil cooler pipes and like I said they will leak oil  when knackered or sometimes untight.

yes all cleaned out!only 1 or 2 bits of oil but not much.probably best to get another?

If you have any oil in your water I would do it sooner rather than later, it will not improve....
