Title: best battery?
Post by: greenfingers 79 on 27 November 2010, 19:13:36: what battery would be best for my 2.2dti? as having problems starting her when cold, have seen them up to 100 amp is that too much?

Are the Glow plugs and glow plug timer working?

Post by: VXL V6 on 27 November 2010, 21:35:28: The glow plugs aren't too expensive (around £9 each on TC), would be worth getting the snapped one out somehow and replacing it, DTi's do seem to struggle in these cold snaps unless everything is A1.

I have been turning the ignition on a couple of times to give the glow plugs a better chance to do thier job from cold.

You can still kill them by being an idiot and running a compressor without the engine running, though :-[ :-[ ;D Mine barely starts the car in the cold, now, even after a trickle charge and then standing overnight. Must be time to visit the parts man!
