Title: keys
Post by: mrgreen on 30 November 2010, 16:08:43
was just wondering i have only one key for my mig, if i got another one cut and then taped the chip to the body(from the first key) of the ignition switch would this then enable the second key to work?

Yes but it would invalidate your insurance as you have effectively bypassed your immobiliser!

in the way that there might as well not be an immobiliser if the bit it relies on stays with the car and not specific to the key you're putting in the ignition.  :y

After reading the op again, you are of course correct, for some reason I read that the chip was going to be taped to the new key.  Which would be a bit pointless.  :D

Should've went to Specsavers.
