Post by: griff2494 on 03 December 2010, 16:59:47
hi all

would a air lock in the coolant system make the car get red hot realy fast (makes warning light come on)and the coolant tank is bubbling!

also even when red hot the heater just blowing cold air out

cheers

if the tank is bubbling like you say and its heatin up fast that sounds like head gasket, just had same thing with my sisters pug 106, thermistat had gone but she kept drivin.

So check your thermostat, i know the cooling system on the omega is a self bleedin system, just make sure it has been filled as directed

Follow the top hose down the pass side of the engine & it connects to the thermostat housing, 2-bolt job to remove

Is there enough antifreeze in the system. These temperatures will soon freeze the coolant if it's a bit on the weak side.

yep it sounds like a partial freeze-up to me, too.
