Title: ABS, TC, SPEEDO & CRUISE CONTROL
Post by: megaomega123 on 06 December 2010, 12:46:53
Hi everybody.
I have intermittently, ABS & TC light on, no speedo and no cruise control. Driving in heavy deep snow at the moment. Is it weather related or is it the blasted ABS ECU? Hopefully the former. EML has been on a couple of times for a minute or 2, not had chance to get codes yet. ::)

does seem like the symptoms of a failed/failing ABC ECU  :'(

Send the ECU off to these guys http://www.ecutesting.com/how_we_test_ecus.html
Or replace with one from same spec car, or replace with similar and get it re-set with Tech II

See what happens once the snow is melted a bit - its easy to confuddle the ECU in snow....

Think that is the best idea as it has only happened with this weather. Should be able to test it in normal conditions around July!!!!!  ;D

If its just confused, it should be fine after a restart, and stay fine until you confuse it with different wheels spinnning at implausible rates (as far as the ECU is concerned)

The ABS provides the speed signal to everything. If this stops (either because ECU is faulty, or because it has a monk on), everything else will be less than optimal.

Good to know that the ECU can just get the hump. I had wheels spinning all over today, sometimes for the thrill of it but mostly because there was only half a lane on the motorway  :o

My ABS light came on immediately after a wheel spin on way to garage early this morning, there may be hope.

I don't want to be a bringer of doom but mine had alot of the same problems your all saying and it was the abs ecu I took it off sent it to BBa reman and put it back on, might need some programming as mine does, hope yours aren't the same but it sounds like it is although on the plus side there is a great maintenance guide on how to do it.
Someone said to me about checking the abs sensor on the rear axle which if I remember is near the diff also try taking plug off and cleaning it with electrical cleaner I've heard these things work but I wasn't that fortunate but I'd try those things first

I forgot to say the plug has a plastic plug that needs to be pulled back towards passenger wheel it comes out about 2 inch and then plug will come out it's tight but it will come.
Hope this helps if I knew how to add stuff to posts I'd add maintenance guide but don't know how.

Write your guide, preferably with photos, and post it in the test section.     :y
