Title: Radiator Fan not working...maybe?
Post by: popeclock on 09 December 2010, 12:16:00
Got to say...I love driving my Omega, but don't have a clue about what goes on under the bonnet!!  :-[

So with that in mind....can someone please advise?

My radiator fans don't turn??  Are they belt driven...have tried to take a look, but can't see a bleeding thing!!

Do they just come on when the engine reaches a certain temp?  Water in header tank not too hot (after 10 mile drive)....still no fans kicking in???

Any advice greatly appreciated.

no they are not belt driven, i have found that the fans on mine are very quiet and only come on low if temp gets over 95 degrees, but that is enough to cool it down

btw they (2) are located behind the grill but infront of rad, hard to see them.
and you should have a 3rd smaller fan on the back to the passenger side of the rad

Thanks for that.   What a relief!

Hopefully I can reasonably assume the smoke rising from the engine, and the burning smell in the cab is due to muggins ere spilling engine oil while topping up!

Cheers  :y

hmm the burning smell in cabin could be camcover gaskets, pull the ht leads off the plugs and see if you have oil in the wells  :y
