First there was code 0300, then code 0305 (oil in plug 5 needing new gasket set.) Now we have 0306
I have just spent 2 hours trying to lift the coil pack from 2,4,6 cylinder bank. My blood is everywhere.
I think the coil pack is Donald ducked. Any idea how much for a new one? Can I use a pattern part or second hand part?
Any ideas please.

A bit to coincidental for my liking TBH.
Two totaly unrelated faults occuring at the same time!
Were both cam cover seal sets replaced at the same time or not and were the breathers cleaned?

I have no idea Mark......The gaskets may well be original.....I have just paid £38 for a genuine VX gasket set for cylinders 1,3,5,after finding oil in plug 5. The coil pack from 2,4,6...looks like it's been on the way out for some considerable time.....perhaps this cold snap has finally finished it off. :-? :-?

The 246 bank looks like water damage. Once you have finished doing the cam covers and you've replaced the skuttle run a bead of the black sealant around each wiper spindle and down the seam where the 2 halves of the skuttle come together :y

This may well be a stupid question.....but are they £69 each or the pair?.......are they new ...or are they reconditioned?....They make reference to "having been tested".... :y

You can buy a brand new(single) Bosch coil pack for £65......so the breakers want more than 50% of the cost of a brand new one.....for a coil pack that is at least seven years old.....and probably just about to fail....Crazy... :'( :'( :'(

Have a search on eGay, there is a pair of new ones listed for £125 :y

try having a serch on goble by part number as well you may find them thers also
scarpies are just pricing them sleve out of a job now days
70 qwid an alet nator i got a recon fot 90 with 12 monts warenty
50/60 for a rad only 95 new for generic one but still a new rad
may not last as long a gebnuine vau but will last longer tahn used

How much water and condensation was in no 6 plug well?
I have to be honest, that coil pack looks worse than it is, no swelling of the iron evident and no major cracks around the casing.

If they didn;t clean the breathers then the next weakest link will go. :y

Both mine were knackered and Vx had only one bank in stock, the ones above are being delivered tomorrow :y Plus the Vx ones were £112 + VAT each.... I hadn't got a quote for trade but still wouldn't of been as good of deal as the Vauxhall World ones.

Interesting as the state of the boots sudgest they have been wet. Was it still missfiring?
If not then sort the scuttle (stop the water leak), wipe the coil pack down and refit.

Looking at the photos it is clear that the coil packs on the 2.6 are a lot different to the 2.5 Are they any more reliable and more importantly they look as if they are easier to get to? :)

I disagree - I think 2.6/3.2 coilpacks are less reliable than coilpacks (though probably less prone to an HBV having a wee all over them)

Based on the evidence in your photo, the coil pack for the rear cylinder has definately been immersed in water at some stage. My 3.2 suffered from a really bad missfire problem earlier this year, and when I removed the coil pack module assembly, all 3 plugs were totally immersed in water. I fitted a new genuine module purchased from VX as I did not fancy having to take it all apart again after a few months. I think one of the contributing factors to the water ingress is water leaking from the base of skuttle onto the coil pack. What I did when replacing the skuttle was to use a sealing compound at the join, to ensure any water was retained within the skuttle area to drain away as it should. Others on here may have different opinions on this, but, I have since seen no evedence of water leaking onto the engine, and no miss-firing problem. Incidentally the coil pack I replaced was in alot worse condition than yours, even slightly buckled when viewed from end to end.

Have owned 3 3.2s, 2 of which had worse coil pacs than pictured with no miss fire evident. Yes the rust is present, but it's not swelling or cracking the plastic around the cores. As said, water has been in there, no doubt about it.
So, last time, have you changed the plugs while your there?
