Title: Vibration at 80+
Post by: alfie on 09 December 2010, 19:37:45
Not really worried about it at the moment,(to cold to work on car in this weather) but every time that I accidently exceed the speed limit and head into the 80s a vibration starts,Steering is unaffected, seems to be prop shalf?, why would it suddenly appear.
Any other ideas,please.

could be as simple as a wheel out of balance or a warped tyre, does the steering wheel shake or the car shake ect

An old tyre man i know once told me, "Any Shaking under 60 front wheels, after 60 rear wheels need balancing or tyre defect." Pretty good advise I found  :y

if possible, try and find somewhere with a far more accurate 5 stud balancer, as oposed to the more common cone balancer.

Had a similar problem until a rear tyre exploded at 75mph on the M40
Suggest you get cause identified & rectified PDQ!

I agree. For your own sake get the tyres checked out ASAP. Might also be Shocks, or Prop Shaft. Is it a high or low frequency vibration?

Might even be the rim is distorted if you've walloped a pothole.
