Nothing is ever as straight forward as it should be is it?
Currently trying to do my cam-cover gaskets / cam-belt, which requires removal of the inlet trumpets. (pictured below)

So, six bolts off, give it a little tap with a rubber hammer, as it should just pull straight off right?
However, on mine it seems like the casting at the base of the inlet trumpets, (where it bolts into the block), is just a little too wide to enable me to pull it up from between the 'V's of the cylinder heads :-?
I've tried twisting it, pulling it, sliding it, asking it nicely, even begging it, but the dam thing still won't lift out.
Now, I'm 99% certain that there is nothing connected, screwed in, or bolted down that I have forgotten, as the trumpets will lift easily by a couple of cm, and using a torch I can see where the casting of the trumpets is catching the heads. Surely the only way to get the bloody thing removed can't be by removing the cylinder heads? :o
I don't want to go using a file on the casting for fear of getting any rubbish in my combustion chambers, plus I have so far been reluctant to give it a really big pull incase I damage something on the fuel rail.
So, any suggestions please fellas?
In advance, many thanks :y

if i remember correctly, you need to unplug the yellow injector connectors, take off the fuel rail. with the connectors removed it gives you that extra bit to get the trumpet off.

Remove fuel rail then tilt inlet manifold one way and it will come straight up - its easy once you've done it the first time. Put it back in same way!! ;)

Thank you both :y
I'd already undone the yellow connectors. Just about to have dinner, so will try to get the trumpet off later.
Cheers for the advice. Appriciated. :)

As said, it will come off... I had the same feeling that it was impossible but when it finally came off I was surprised it was that easy ::)

If you are trying to remove the inlet manifold which has 6 bolts holding it onto a black sandwich plate inbetween the heads, there is no need to remove the fuelrail, the two fuel pipes will need to be undone, the plug at the back that is it.
Standing at the front of the car push the inlet to the drivets side, lift up the passenger side then lift through the gaps in the heads.
Hope that helps. X

concur - no need to remove fuel rail.
it will come out, honest.....!

For anyone else getting stuck and reading this in the future, I found all of the above did the job perfectly,so a great big thank you to the three above posters for their advice.
One other thing to add, (if you didn't know already), is that at first it seems, (or at least did to me), that there is a connector for the big black cable that runs into the back of the fuel rail, (bulkhead end). There isn't. You'll just need to gentle unclip the fuel rail from the top of the trumpet, then move it to one side to gain access to the cam covers.
