Title: SPORT LIGHT ON DASH WON'T COME ON
Post by: coded52 on 21 December 2010, 17:18:04
Please I had the gear box of my Mv6 changed but the mechanic who did it can't get the sport light on the dash to come on anymore. according to him it means there is something wrong, but he is totally stumped. i should probably add that I am living in Nigeria, so no Opel service centres, only roadside mechanics, WHAT TO DO PLEASE? :-? :'(

Can he read the codes in the TCM? Sounds like it has detected a fault, and its in limp

 :-? :-? There's no sport  light so it can't show a fault, & coded52 hasn't said there's an obvious fault when driving ?????

I've made an assumption that the bulb actually is OK. Probably a danagerous assumption.

That assumption maintained, the only reason the feature will not engage is if the TCM is seeing a fault (assuming switch and wiring between switch and TCM haven't failed at same time as the gearbox changed - that would be unlucky).

Hence, a code reader would be useful

Mind you, a tcm fault should say so on mid, or put on warning under tid
