A short while ago i posted regarding one of my Xenon HID headlights that was "glowing" orange instead of the normal bright white.
The good news ! It's now white again...the bad news..only for about 30 seconds after which it flickers and dies completely. Switch lights off and on again, sometimes it's briefly white, sometimes won't come on at all.
I've got some new bulbs which I'm gonna change as soon as the sodding weather gets a bit better BUT would the fact that it now glows white again before shutting off completely STILL lean towards a flubbered bulb or could it be the ballast/controller thing. Gawd help me !
Apprecaite the best way to find out is simply to change the bulb, which I'll do, but I'm now worried that it may be something more serious/expensive.

wouldn't the best way be to swap ballasts over & see if your orange light moves with it?

LOL ! Thanks Andy....removing the lights are a big job for me let alone moving the ballast over....wouldn't even know what it was.
It's not orange anymore...just white..briefly, 30 seconds and it flickers and dies..

You may be putting unnecessary strain on the ballast by asking it to run a bulb at the end of it's life, better to get it changed sooner rather than later.

Strangely...You may have a point.
Guess what ! Changed the bulb tonight, amazingly by myself with the missus holding a light on a couple of occasions....and the new bulb flashes briefly and won't stay on at all.
Off to try to source a new complete f/l light now..
UNLESS it could be something else..any ideas ?
Thk u for your input.
