Title: Need an expert on Auto Transmission Fault Codes
Post by: PxMetro on 24 December 2010, 17:55:18
Tonight I experienced a problem with my Auto Transmission. It made a slight clonk when changing up to top gear (I think it was top) and then I noticed the orange car / spanner warning light had come on. It does not now seem to want to change into top gear. It seems to be stuck in third, as if in Snow mode, but the snow light is not on, and I have not used it today but have quite often of late. I checked for the fault codes and I am getting 0700. Can anyone clarify what this is please? I have checked the codes posted on here by MDTMC which showed P0700 as "Transmission control system range/performance" but when checking on other sites for GM fault codes I found

* P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction
* P0701 Transmission Control System Range/Performance

Which ever meaning it is, it sounds like it will cost money.

Just typical that this happens on Christmas eve when the kids want ferrying around the place.  :'( :'(

Those codes are engine codes (they say gearbox is fubared)

The gearbox itself should give you more detailed codes saying whats stuffed...

As Tunnie says, in effect, the pedal trick only reads the engine ecu.

Needs a reader to see the auto box ecu.
