Hi all have today given the car a good clean and usual checks but EEK found creamy cover on oil cap,oil o k on dipstick runs fine no water loss, coolent water not discoulered, condensation i'm thinking wll hoping ??? :( :(
-
Yes mate, condensation, caused by short runs in the colder weather. Clean it all out, sling the neck in a cubby in the boot and fit the yellow cap directly to the cam cover, just refit when you need to top up ;) :y
-
great thanks for that, yes have only been doing short journeys over christmas, so chuck the long spou
t in the boot and use oil cap direct ? :y :y
-
Yes mate, it's because the oil rich air in the neck cools a lot faster than the cam covers do and they condensate to make the mayo. It won't happen if the neck is in the boot ;) ;D
-
Top job thanks :y

remember the breathers will get in a similar condition.
I took 'That Bloody Elite' for a blast to Coventry (VAT free at Machine Mart), as that was starting to get some mayo in the filler....

Yes it does. Stand against the passenger wing and look to the right of the neck and you'll see one of the cam cover bolts. Around that bolt you will feel the locking tab, lift it to clear the bolt and twist the neck anti-clockwise and bingo it's off. Cap just fits straight into the hole the neck came out of :y
