do you need to change the cambelt when you have the waterpump done? and where is the best place to get the parts?
-
No but if its not far off needing replacment its best to get them done together ;)
Try www.buypartsbuy.com for the water pump
-
ok thanks will have a look think theres about 10k left on cambelt
-
You can do the water pump without removing the cambelt cover at a push but its easier to remove it and while your there you might as well do the belt kit ;)

With 'only' 10k left, I'd be inclined to change the belt at the same time...
-
Agreed :y

cam cover gaskets MUST be genuine. DONT use pattern ones!
-
Don't get your camcover gaskets from anywhere other than Vauxhall, they won't last 5 minutes
-
ok cheers for that theres a vauxhall dealership just down street i'll go there.just need to fit it all then

Try contacting andyc on this site (he is a parts manager at a dealer, and normally happy to post most stuff out trade).
Get the gaskets from dealer, then cambelt kit and pump from buypartsby.
You cannot do a GM V6 Cambelt without the V6 locking/timing kit.
-
Send AndyC a pm via the forum. He works in the parts dept of a Vauxhall dealers and he'll give you the trade price and post them out :y
-
ok i'll write him up.cheers for the help

Another one here in the 'get it all done at once' camp.
I cant see the water pump being an easy job without removing the cambelt first?
And did the parts price you were quoted include new tensioners?
-
yeah tensioners included im getting it all done because it needs doing lol ;D

Are you doing the job yourself, or taking it to a garage?
If your doing it yourself, then provided you left a deposit, I'd loan you my V6 cam locking kit for a tenner, (as you ain't far from me).

Not sure if there is a guide for doing just the water pump on the V6, but I recommend getting the V6 Timing CD from the shop for the sake of 3 or 4 quid.

changing a water pump on its own is a lot easier than piddling about with a cam belt too.

Quite easy, with the pulley off you can get at the 3 bolts holding the pump on with little effort.
I've got a couple of kits here to Benjy if you need a hand :y

i dont know i was gonna try and atempt it but i mite take it to garage instead
